I’ve been working my way through the BBC series The Cows Are Mad. It’s a ten-part mini-series that tries to shed some light on the BSE/vCJD stuff from the 80s and 90s.
You’z?
- In Our Time
- Thinking Allowed
- Philosophize This
- Revolutions
- Behind the Bastards
- Last Podcast on the Left
- Infinite Monkey Cage
- We Can Be Weirdos
- The Adam Buxton Podcast
- Betwixt the Sheets
No Such Thing As A Fish is pretty good, it’s basically just more QI
- Behind the Bastards
- Darknet Diaries
- If Books Could Kill
- SpyCast
I’ve also listened through Jon Ronson’s 2 season series Things Fell Apart, which is on various culture wars over the years. That’s well worth a listen to, it covers the roots of abortion becoming an issue as well as many others.
Pretty much exclusively F**kface.
My partner listens to a variety and I do enjoy the bits I hear of This Paranormal Life though.
It’s safe to say that I’m in it for laughs and not much else.
- Mandatory Redistribution Party - Left wing political discussion.
- Off Menu - Food discussion usually with comedians based around dream meals.
- RHLSTP - Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast - Comedy and adjacent discussions in front of a live audience.
- Adam Buxton Podcast - Long form interviews.
- Alexei Sayle Podcast - Angry old man comedian shouts about left wing stuff. Some interviews.
- Horne Section Podcast - Music and comedy with guests.
- The Worst Idea of All Time - 2 NZ comedians watch and review the same film every week for a year.
Wolf 359. It’s a funny sci-fi radio drama. On my second listen through.
Triforce podcast, stop skeletons from podcasting, and the yascast
More Or Less… respect.
A fellow More or Less listener I see. Good taste.
When you want to know the truth behind the numbers ;)
There are three I listen to regularly;
- Adrift
- Three Bean Salad
- The Cryptid Factor
I’ve also just started listening to Mythical Creatures.
Lolita podcast was absolutely enthralling. The book is a horror story told from the PoV of the monster, but somehow socetiy has turned that in to a “forbidden love” story in absolutely mind boggling ways.
Something Rhymes With Purple - Suzie Dent and Giles Brandreth talk about words.
The Abroad in Japan podcast - Chris Broad and Pete Donaldson talk about life in Japan
No Such Thing as a Fish - The QI elves talk about cool stuff they’ve discovered.
Cortex - Myke Hurley and CGP Grey talk about getting things done.
Daily Tech News Show - exactly what it says.
Adding to some good recommendations, some rather popular but not yet mentioned ones: 2 of the “The rest is…” family of podcasts seem rather good to me. Specifically, “The rest is politics” for these who are following the current agenda, and “The rest is history” for these who are fed up with it.
Edit: forgot a more entertainment-oriented one, delivered well in my view. “Clash of the titles” - the guys discuss movies, basically.
Lots. I’ve so many in my subscription list I’m usually quite late catching up.
