Did it end up cheaper than a pre-built?

Where’s the thread where you got all the advice? I’d be curious to see that. Thank you!

It was about $850, plus some to replace some cables. The prebuilts I saw in the same price range were a lot weaker. I also got lucky with prime day, got to upgrade a few parts for the same price.

      Here’s the thread: https://lemmy.one/post/876670

Congrats that’s a great build for 850$. Remind me of my first build in 2013 and I only just replaced that.

Oh, very cool, thanks. Does that thread have all the specs of your new PC? I’d be curious what you got for 850. I travel a lot and got a gaming laptop a few years ago but I am curious what gaming PCs you can build from under a thousand these days

Very nice, looks clean without any unnecessary fancy overpriced parts. Great to see builds where usability matters than esthetic. Enjoy it!

Well done. What part did you find to be the hardest?

The hardest part for me honestly was trying to figure out how to get the heat sink back on the m2 after I installed the ssd lol. Took me an hour before I realized there was an extra screw.

Also took me another hour trying to figure out how to install the motherboard in the case. I finally realized that the case had some standoffs in a baggie tucked away in the psu compartment.

I should have taken the advice I read not to start at 9 PM lol.

Congratulations! Build looks clean and professionally done. If I hadn’t seen your original post, I wouldn’t have known that this is your first time. Happy gaming!
