    Do people really consider 1989 to be the beginning of the internet? That doesn’t seem accurate to me.

      The birth of the world wide web , which is very foundational for a usable internet. It definitely existed before then but really took traction after this.

      My first thought as well. It may seem like a pedantic “well akshually” thing, but the world wide web and the internet are not the same thing.
