Thousands of Palestinians, including men, women, children and elderly, attempted to return to their homes in northern Gaza on Sunday when they came under Israeli fire.
“We reached all the way to the checkpoint until we saw Israeli tanks. We headed back because they fired towards us. We didn’t see anyone make it to the other side. We risked our children’s lives to cross, but apparently it was all a lie,” one woman said.
Video shows several people with what appear to be gunshot wounds. One man is seen carrying another man who has blood streaming along his face from a head injury.
“We heard the road was open to Gaza City, so we thought we’d go. When they saw men with us, they started shooting at us. We are tired and humiliated,” Um Awni Al-Jarousha told CNN.
Footage shows people turning around, heading back south with the sound of drones and planes buzzing overhead. Missiles can be seen in the distance while people run in panic.

I just can’t support any politician complicit in this, let alone eager to fund it.
It’s a fucking genocide and our tax dollars are paying for it
And the amount of resources going into genociding people, the high tech drones, the 2,000lb bombs, the surveillance and AI - it’s horrific.
Yet you are complicit in the election of a politician who proudly will make this worse. great logic.
No they aren’t. That’s complete nonsense. Do put this on us, if they’d give us someone worth voting for, we would.
Right it won’t be your fault if you can see a worse alternative coming but instead of avoiding it you throw a tantrum. Totally not your fault.
Not voting isn’t throwing a tantrum. I choose to not vote because I have nobody I think is worth voting for. That’s all.
But to be honest, the amount of attacks you get if you say you don’t want to vote, or you plan to vote third party, the negativity against that you get from people, like this is all your fault, is what seems like people throwing a tantrum. My vote my choice. That’s all. My one vote in my state makes no difference whatsoever. So I’m just not going to do it.
Pretend all you want
He just loves being able to pretend that his support for genocide is moral.
Who? I don’t support that shit at all.
The guy you were talking to. He supports genocide and thinks that makes him a good person.
Actually you do, since you want trump to win
Ah the Trump shill is back to save the day from the genocide lovers. ❤️
Inaction is action. You can’t not make a choice, and there will be consequences of whatever choice you make.
I absolutely can, that is my choice. It’s my vote, it’s my choice to use it or not use it. Simple as that. If I bothered to vote, I would write in Bernie every single time.
The consequences are not my fault. Give me someone worth voting for and I’ll do it. I’ll even volunteer for them, because I have before, and I would again for someone that isn’t a pile of trash or a pile of shit. I won’t vote for either of those things, and that is my vote.
The consequences of your actions may not be your fault but you are responsible for your choices and how they impact others. If you choose to take an action, knowing that it will likely increase the harm towards others, that is on you and others are free to judge you for it.
Anti-electoralism is accelerationism with a fresh paint of coat and voting for a third party in FPTP is functionally indistinguishable from supporting the conservative party. If you help Trump get elected, you are complicit in and share responsibility for every LGBTQ and POC person harmed or killed.
Don’t point the finger at me, I didn’t have anything to do with how we got to now. My apathy and others like me are not the problem… Take aim at the ones that are really to blame. I vote with my conscience, and if that means no vote, so be it. None of you will convince me otherwise with your attacks.
Don’t point the finger at me, I didn’t have anything to do with how we got to now. My apathy and others like me are not the problem…
You’re an enabler. Like Andy Dick giving drugs to Phil Hartman’s wife. Sure, Andy didn’t pull the trigger but the situation would have been less likely, if not for his actions. You don’t just get to wash your hands off it because of not directly committing the acts.
Your apathy is exactly the problem as it enables the bad behavior. Why do you think so much has been invested in encouraging voter apathy over the years?
I vote with my conscience, and if that means no vote, so be it
Clearly, your conscience doesn’t consider trans people or people of color then.
None of you will convince me otherwise with your attacks.
This is exactly who I’m not really trying to convince you but rebutting fallacious reasoning so as to try to convince others. You’re so invested in your belief that you’ve incorporated it into your sense of self and perceive anything that challenges it, regardless of factuality, as an attack.
I’m not attacking you. And I don’t think most of the others are either. What we are attacking is the fallacy of believing that one is not responsible for the known consequences of their actions due to voluntary near-sightedness. It’s not missing the forest for the trees, nor even the trees for the twigs, but missing the individual leaves for the individual plant cells; absolutely ignoring all context, interconnectedness, and cascading impacts by focusing only on the minutiae and rejecting anything else.
You’re not a bad person for feeling this way. However, it does lead to a high risk of embracing courses of action on premises that do not hold up to scrutiny and are ethically questionable to those embracing wider world views.
Then you are naive. You can say you’re not to blame, but if Trump wins and things get worse (and oh boy will they get worse), Trump voters and those who didn’t vote for Biden will be to blame. Full stop.
Does it suck we don’t have a more progressive candidate in the general? Absolutely. Is there anything that can be done at this point to change that? No, there are only 3 choices to make, and all but voting for Biden will help Trump in some way.
The consequences of voting or not voting for you are exactly the same as they are for every other voting age American. It’s really not that complicated.
You’re right, it’s not complicated, there are zero consequences to my not voting. My state will go to Biden with or without me, I make zero difference.
People shouldn’t be annoyed and angry with me that I don’t want to participate anymore, don’t point the finger at me, point it at the ones who are making people like me completely apathetic to this dumb shit show.
Problem is that this mindset for states that DO matter in our shitty electoral college system absolutely make a difference. This is absolutely the goal of the Russians, GOP, and the “let America burn to the ground” folks.
Ffs, of the implication is that you are not going to vote for Biden then think again. you are going to vote, and you will vote Biden because the alternative will be endlessly worse. Not voting is pretty much the same voting for the alternative, so you go out and hate it if you must, but you will vote Biden because ar least he is sorta some what kind of against all this where trump literally wants to “Finish the problem”
Keep repeating that mantra and you too can be just as shocked as Hilary diehards in 2016.
The rest of us know that strategy results in republicans winning and will keep pushing for a better option so we’re not stuck with trump.
Have fun
Yes but if that does happen it will quite literally be you and people like you who are to blame. You’re cutting your nose off to spite your face and then trying to blame the people warning you about how fucking stupid it is to do that.
It’s the most brainless shit I’ve ever fucking seen, almost as bad as the people who actually do want to vote for Trump
Blame voters…
Not the people paid to get Dems elected? The ones going against the desires of their voters? The ones openly antagonistic towards their voters?
The ones that literally cancelled a primary for a state that habitually votes progressive over party favorite?
The ones that scheduled their convention after the state deadlines for candidates to get on the ballot?
The same ones that want to say a primary is over after the 3rd state votes so no one else matters?
It’s completely understandable for you to be angry, but youre not mad at the people creating the situation, you’re mad at people who acknowledge there even is a problem
In order to keep Trump out of office, you’re not going to vote for his opponent?
Another man is seen carrying a 5-year-old girl named Sally Abu Laila, who is bleeding from her head and surrounded by people trying to help.
Her mother Sabreen told CNN her daughter was in her arms when Israeli soldiers shot at her. They had attempted to cross into the north with Sabreen’s husband, but the soldiers turned him back, leaving her and her four children to face the journey alone.
North Gaza is Israel now.
It was never about Hamas. It was always about more land grabs, more ethnic cleansing, more settling.
Afrin used to be something like 90% Kurds. The Turks came as they did not like the facts that the Kurds had a relatively warzone free city controlled by the Kurds, and invaded along with ex-isis fighters wearing new badges created by the Turks. Around 300,000 Kurds fled and live in refugee camps till this day. Afrin area has essentially been ethically cleansed as the Kurdish populationhas has dropped to 10-5%, we know it’s on purpose as Turkey’s great islamic leader said there’s no Kurds in Afrin, only Arabs (excuse to remove the Kurds). That was there nonstop claims till completion.
This happened in 2018. Since then war crimes is through the roof. Kidnappings, rape, killings, forced assimilation, removal of Kurdish signs, ect. (There’s a website for missing people, see below.) They fled for a reason is my point. What has the muslims said? Nothing really, in fact Palestinian aid groups settled in helping arabs that have moved in. Even reports that Palestinian construction companies building homes there, which means they are more than happy to do the same.
Isis fighters live in Afrin, turkey supports it, Palestinians are involved.
This has got to be some kind of hasbara tactic or something. Otherwise I just can’t understand how on a post reporting about civilians in Gaza being bombed, you would start rambling about a completely unrelated topic and then somehow link Palestinians to it.
You question it, but I see hate for Israel thrown in on random articles all over this community. It’s just people pushing their agendas no matter what.
We are witnessing, on a daily basis, an Apartheid State commit genocide on people systematically oppressed for generations
Kurds are useful idiots of Middle East. Us used them for Iraq invasion, used for relocating Syria villages. They big part of destabilization of Iran. Probably Kurd will fight againts Iran next possible Us-Israel attack.
"‘I’m going to Gaza City. It’s enough. We need to go back to our homes and lands. We are tired of displacement… we heard people saying we can go back, but no one official told us. We’ll leave it to God,’ Majd El-Aqqad said. "
That was a phenomenally stupid thing to decide to just walk into an invading army based on gossip. Predictably horrible outcome.
I’d say more “desperate” than “stupid”, try putting yourself in their shoes before judging them from behind your screen.
Desperation is often the cause of stupidity. Walking into an invading army while unarmed is never a wise survival strategy. Show me one single time in History where this went well for most of the people involved.
Point is, “stupid” has a derogatory connotation that is unwaranted in this case.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Thousands of Palestinians, including men, women, children and elderly, attempted to return to their homes in northern Gaza on Sunday when they came under Israeli fire.
Video filmed by a CNN stringer shows the once-perilous coastal road of Al Rasheed filled with families walking with their belongings, some riding bicycles, donkey carts and pick-up trucks, smiling and snapping photographs.
In the video shot for CNN, an elderly woman named Um Mohammad walks along the road carrying a heavy bag on her head and two others in her arms, attempting to reach her home.
Many of the people who attempted to head north had been displaced to Rafah, where Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been threatening to launch an offensive that the UN said would lead to a “humanitarian catastrophe.”
A young boy named Omar Al-Dahdouh carried a bag of flour on his shoulder, holding his younger sibling’s hand and sobbing as he walked.
Graphic footage shot for CNN shows Sally crying out in pain, blood on her body with a wound on her head and arm as she gets treated by two doctors.
