Why do peoples life choices that have no effect on anyone else whatsoever upset people so much?
Religion can make otherwise good people do bad things.
Because they’re unable to affect the change they wish to see in their own life, so they look to a minority group of underrepresented people going on with their day and decide to do their best to fuck it up. Everyone ends up miserable and the cycle repeats. Humanity will get tired of it eventually I hope.
