inbreeding in modernity is very much a characteristic of the aristocracy and the preservation of “elite” family wealth and bloodlines. it is, of course, used to malign people from poorer communities and places that rose up in organized armed insurrection against the national power structure, only to have their struggles crushed and their histories erased.
