So I know now people don’t really like the Pirate Bay and it’s no wonder why. Apparently they got caught implementing crypto miners and other forms of maleware into their files which obviously makes them hated but was the site ever any good anyway?

I wasn’t alive in its heyday but from what I know it follows a similar premise of how the site is ran today. There’s a bunch of links and you have to download or torrent the link hoping it isn’t full of viruses. There’s just so little safety guaranteed even if the color of the skull says they’re safe as users tend to just sell accounts so hackers can use their trust.

Which leads me to ask why did people use the Pirate Bay? Was there just no other good options? Were websites with loyal followings like fitgirl just not around?
