Not only is this a way for you to keep your stuff, inform you what reddit knew about you and in general good to do with services you use every now and then - it also tends to be quite expensive operation for tech companies that aren’t quite operationally mature yet.
In other words, strongly recommend making a request if you still have an account.
Good info but it shouldn’t be posted in this community.
The people downvoting you are shortsighted. This place is for discussion pertaining to lemmy.world. There is a general lemmy world discussion board. Also the one for reddit.
For former redditors who can’t seem to grasp this simple concept… would you like you see a video of an alligator eating a pet dog stay on r/WTF, or would you like that content misposted in r/awww or r/EyeBleach?
We have specific places for specific topics for a reason. This is not directed at OP, but people who are butthurt for OP and being unhealthy users for the community.
Downvote because something is off-topic, trolling, spam, or hate. Not because you disagree or don’t like an opinion. Conversely, upvote relevant content/discussion, not simply things you like. They’re not supposed to be dis/agreement buttons.
Oh i apologize, I’m still getting familiar with Lemmy. Where should I post it instead?
There is a general lemmy world discussion board. Also a reddit one, which would probably be the most appropriate that I’ve seen so far.
Edit: c/general or c/reddit
I made a request last weekend and never got an answer. Checking back today it say’s I can’t request again. Either they are way behind or they aren’t giving out the info.
I think they have like 30 days to comply.
Yep, it’s thirty days. The longer it takes btw the more likely that the company hasn’t quite operationalized these kind of requests very well.
I put in a request under California law a few days ago. I’m interested to see whether they’re capable of meeting their obligations or if they’re not competent to operate a legal business.
Anyone from the US actually received this? I submitted my request last week and haven’t seen the results yet.
do we have any grounds to request our data if we are not citzens of California or the EU?
They can’t verify our citizenships. They just have to comply.
legal grounds? no, I don’t think so
How do we request our data?
Just use the link in the post, chose either option and start the request
