I’ve seen almost that exact sight so many times…

For a second I thought it was 2012 again and I was curled up under my blanket with some hot chocolate to play skyrim and watch some cartoons.

And I was in my 20s.

Skyrim really is a magical experience like that. I wish I was old enough to experience it on launch in the early 2010s just so I could experience that with the rest of the community for the first time

I didn’t get it right away, since I try not to buy anything in the first month it’s out so I get a good feel of the game. Also, you know… poor. But mostly the first thing.

But holy shit the videos of dragon fights… I had to fight an impulse buy.

Since then I’ve spent over $100 on various copies for various consoles and my computer, all on sale. It may not seem like much, but when 95% of my library was purchased during sales and events… That’s a lot.

It’s not perfect, but there are so many mods for it, you can tailor it to whatever you want. Personally, I like a bit of survival mechanics like food/water and temperatures/wetness. I also like the older oblivion style of magic combat.

Bethesda may not have made the greatest video game of all time, but at this point it might as well be the best fantasy RPG-lite sandbox I’ve played. The only thing that could make it better is a settlement system like fallout. I like to build.

Survival is what I went for on this Modpack too. I have survival Mode enabled, along with a whole bunch of clothes and stuff for warmth. I’ve been trying to to get the Campfire and Frostfall mods to work but they won’t load in game for some reason so I may just have to give up

I would kill for a settlement system like Fallout 4’s or a C.A.M.P System like Fallout 76. Even just a revamp of Heart fire using the new system might be enough to get me to buy a 4th rerelease of Skyrim

Well, i haven’t neen much of a gamer for years (got too adicted to WoW), but just started again this year. I am amazed by Skyrim, and am now modding it up.

I also just got Cyberpunk 2077, and will get into it soon.

Only gave Skyrim a try a few times, the combats a bit clunky and the game feels repetitive. It can look very good though, especially with mods. The world is interesting.

It’s the combat part of the game that made it hard to me to play Skyrim. I use some mod and play a mage to avoid playing with weapons, because I find the combat system slow and boring.

I’m replaying Dark Messiah. The game aged, but its combat style is still as dynamic as I remembered. Back then, It’s because I compared it to the Oblivion one that I didn’t played Oblivion more than a couple of minutes.

I have a mod in here called Valhalla Combat irc. Idk if it fixes your issue with the combat but it adds things like a lock on to make it much easier to keep a flow

The combat is honestly my problem with most Bethesda games. I enjoy the environment and story, but the combat feels lackluster to me. Hits with any kind of weapon feel like they miss impact on the enemy. Other than that, great games.

Your argument is just weird. Ok how about elden ring. Doom eternal. Cyberpunk 2077. The Witcher 3. Stardew valley. I dunno what you want from me but the combat in Skyrim is clunky.

Asking you to clarify your argument is not me making my own. That’s a straw man fallacy.

Also Skyrim’s combat is much better than Stardew Valley’s…

I’m hella on your side, “compared to what” is a fucking stupid question. I love Skyrim and it’s clunkier than old style Monster Hunter games. Mods help but dang… it clunky. It’s only NOT clunky when doing archery the whole time, which is why everyone does that. The arching is good… also with mods… and in VR.

Even Fallout 4’s combat is less clunky and it’s CLUNK AS HELL

Stardew has no dual wielding… only one type of attack per weapon. There are bombs, sure.

                  Compared to Skyrim though?

I’ve been in the mood to play Skyrim the past few days so i downloaded it and painstakingly installed a nexus Modpack with a ton of QOL changes. It took forever but I am pleased with the results because the game looks gorgeous and has a ton of neat new mechanics that makes it feel immersive
