      You’re probably thinking of Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana. I think that both of them support two player.

      It features three main plotlines and six different possible main characters, each with their own storylines, and allows two players to play simultaneously.

      Secret of Mana:

      An innovative cooperative multiplayer system allows a second or third player to drop in and out of the game at any time.

      This game is actually 3 player co-op. It was a bit chaotic, and I recall the screen scroll being an issue, but fun.

        hell yeah, the partner and i may dig into these soon! been on my list since i was first emulating on zsnes, but i didn’t have the focus to play a lot of these games when i was that young
