Possibly not the ideal instance for this, but Id rather not deal with alt accounts and like how this instance has been run thus far. Plus, theres gotta be some other furries that play this game right? seeing as it lets you make creatures…

I was apart of a spore community on Reddit, but with everything happening with that site, I went looking for a spore community on the feddiverse, and I’m glad I finally found it.

First played the game 9 years ago, I recently picked it back up again, but because I’m playing through steam I have no access to the sporepedia. I’ll post pictures of my creations in the near future once I can get Imgur to behave.

I had that experience too, would check back once a day for the last week or so with the various community finders to see if someone had made one yet, finally decided to just make one myself.

It is technically possible to get access to the sporepedia through the steam version I think if you also have the origin version on an ea account, used to be the steam version also gave you a key for that but they disabled that due to an exploit people were using. I’ve heard that it’s still possible to get it added for you if one contacts ea support with proof of buying the game on steam, but I don’t know the details of this as I had set it up before the keys feature was broken.

I do have the game through origin, or I guess now the EA app. I tried downloading the game through that but it unfortunately gets stuck on the preparing to download part and never progresses further than that. I haven’t looked up the fix for that yet due to general IRL stuff.

I don’t think you have to download it from origin, just have it in your account. Have you tried putting your ea account login into the steam version’s login page? That’s all I’ve had to do to get mine to connect to the sporepedia

I always do log into the game with my EA account and it recognizes me, but it seems to only pretend I’m connected and online. It says my recent creations are uploaded, but If I go look at my sporpedia page I’ll see that nothing newer than 2014 has been uploaded.

My thought process was I could download the version from EA’s client again, and if it could actually connect then I could see about manually copying over save files.

I recall trying to avoid explaining this game to my grandma as much as I could because she thinks evolution is evil even though that game is obviously nothing like real evolution, but this is probably how they think evolution is supposed to work

Ironically, what spore presents could be considered closer to a religious view of the world where some intelligent entity designs species and then guides their chosen species and group within that species to success, than to actual evolution.
