This is fucking sick, I love it.
I bet the spinning is noisy as hell haha, imagine if we made these really quiet so we could put them in a glass container and use them for neat stuff!
Maybe we could pull a partial vacuum in the container like we did with CRTs to help minimise air resistance noise inside, hmm…
That is likely the best way to do it.
I love this! Using screens we display 3D environments on a 2D surface. This is displaying a 3D environment on a 3D projection. I wonder how would you go about displaying a 4D environment in this 3D projection. The difference in dimensions would be akin to our conventional 3D in 2D setup, so I’d be intrigued in the comparisons we could draw from projecting 4D in 3D.
Well, we can project the 4D into 3D and then project into 2D with similar results, but flattened at any one point in time obviously.

If this supports VR then even better.
No VR support listed on the Steam page :/
You could achieve something similar by using VR to embed 4D environments in 3D space - I’d be very surprised if something like this hasn’t already been tried tbh
i have no clue what i would ever use a volumetric display for, but i somehow need this.
It’s like the urge to slap the hood/roof/door of a car…there’s no point to it…but it calls to me
In the future, 3D environment resolution will be measured in points per m3
