Work.
I’m currently sitting in a minibus near an industrial port in the middle east, waiting for the crewboat to arrive. It’s taking me on a 10 hour ride for me to board a ship pretty much in the middle of the Persian gulf. I will most likely be on board tomorrow and finish up what I’m doing the same day.
Then it’s a short transfer to another ship nearby where the same job awaits.
If timing works out I will head back to shore on Sunday, arriving very early Monday. Then it’s a few days of chill before my return flight on Thursday.Damn, how’s the pay for a job with those travel requirements?
Pretty decent. Similar to other offshore roles with specialization.
Nice. I used to work in the oilfield in West Texas. Pay was good, I had offshore opportunities for even better pay but I decided against it. Oil industry was not great to work in, in my position anyway.
Family coming over for lunch and I’m doing a (variation on) porcetta. I’ve got a lovely piece of pork belly which has been airdrying in the fridge since yesterday morning. Should be cracking crackling. If the weather holds I’ll do it on the rotisserie on my Kamado Joe.
If you like a barbecue (or a barbie, bbq, or braai) come and join us at Cooking With Fire. We need more regular posters!
On my way back home from a climate protest. Defo some cooking later, working on translations for a project over the weekend. Probably some gaming, too.
The dealership where I bought my car is having an unveiling event for a new 2025 model with free food and giveaways. I’m going just for the free lunch and maybe win some stuff. lol
My mom’s birthday :> I’m a little sad as I’d hoped to have a surprise party for her, but I had to move unexpectedly and it took most of my savings. But hopefully she’ll enjoy dinner with a couple of her kids.
ETA also downloaded a geography quiz to take in my idle time. I didn’t really get the K-12 education that’s expected in the US, and I’ve always wanted to do better, but I can’t seem to study anything in a way that sticks. But I noticed I’ve gotten pretty good at word games and sudoku lately, so maybe I just need to make it a puzzle.
Recovering from COVID!
Second time getting it, and it’s been so much worse than the first. Hopefully my partner and/or I test negative soon… we really need stuff from the store and haven’t left the house in more than a week!
Supposed to go visit some lithium springs this morning as soon as I get my poop in a group.
movie movie marathon, cooking egg soboro variations, maybe a date.
Feel free to post about your movie marathon on !movies@lemm.ee !
Family gathering, shirt buying, washing machine hose replacement and clean, cooking, and maybe fix a bit of jewellery. Gym on Sunday.
Abergavenny Food Festival tomorrow. Never been despite living near it for 8 years
Hope I find some nice food and drink
Mothman Festival!
Friend of a friend’s basement flooded so friend and I are gonna go help demo and see how far we get on putting it back together. Sunday will be for soccer and gaming and general lethargy
Soccer, birthday party, the inexorable grind that is cleaning 😹
I’m hoping to figure what anime to start off with, and hopefully enjoy that. Bonus points if it rains too.
shougeki no souma? good foood.
the wind rises? beautiful and sad.
megalobox! some fuuun punching.
what are your candidates so far?
The Wind Rises sounds the most appealing at the moment. It’s hard to accurately describe exactly what you want in an anime when you don’t really understand the genre or know the lingo. I might try The Wind Rises. Cheers.
My Neighbir Totoro has an early iconic scene with rain and is a great movie.
5 centimeters per second is the first time rain in an anime wowed me, the animation is stunning.
I’ll check them out. Cheers.
sure thing, enjoy.
there’s also the garden of words.
that movie is mostly rain, and the rain/nature animation is next-level right from the opening credits.
It’s supposed to rain here all weekend so working outside is probably out. I might finally do some gaming after months of not.
I need to get a new video edited and posted by Sunday afternoon.
