This was just the straw that broke the camels back. It’s been a long time coming. My personal gripes were: Corporate astroturfing (this is the #1 reason I left, the entire front-page just felt like r/hailcorporate but nobody is aware) Reddit official app served ads in the damn comment section Bots of many varieties. Karma farming bots. Politically motivated bots (especially on r/Canada) Mod abuse (r/antiwork for instance) Censorship (r/fencesitter for instance) The stupid NFTs being pushed Also, the API situation will make it harder to moderate subs without the tools that were previously available
One thing I wish these news sites would cover is that it’s not only the API changes that people are upset about.
