This is why we need to move more communities off lemmy.world. Resilience in decentralization
It’s too bad Lemmy communities have to be homed on a single instance. It’d be more resilient if we could comment and vote from other instances.

You can save and vote from any instance. That is the point of the fediverse. You can have an account on lemmy.ml and interact with communities on lemmy.world.
Right, but then I have a separate set of saved posts and comments on every account. I’d have to try and remember which account I saved something under. It’s a minor pain, but a pain nonetheless.
No you don’t. As chris said, you can use the same account. I’m saying move communities off .world, not accounts. That way when it goes down, it doesn’t hurt people on other instances as much (apart from being deprived of your luscious opinions for a few hours).
Can you even migrate accounts yet? Or do you just have to set up a new one and import all your communities manually?

Sync automatically opens it in your instance it seems.
Yep. There’s support for this in ActivityPub, but only Sync and one bot actually implements it… the official webui and none of the other apps support link translation yet

I think there are people making scripts for that but I don’t use it. You have to put the link text in your instance search.

Nah, same here. If anything, the mild drama has brought even more interactive content to my feed. Like a type of a Streisand phenom or something; it’s kinda having the opposite effect for me.
Definitely a lot of wasted energy by pissy people, who get satisfaction from punching air. They could certainly channel it to something better for everyone… but I’m enjoying myself regardless. The only person who can waste your time is yourself, so I hope whoever’s being bitchy is at least getting something out of it… cause it looks about as productive as a tantrum to me, and just as funny to watch.
Whoever’s being all butt-hurt out there… I’m laughing at you, not with you. And if you’re that mad, maybe take your energy and use it to help someone offline. Nobody here will care in a little bit anyway.

Lol “no good reason” does not apply to the decisions the Lemmy.world admins have made for which instances to defederate from or what content to allow. They have been very straight forward with those decisions and explaining why.

No, I don’t. They chose to preemptively defederate from an instance because some people might maybe not actually break their rules but just talk about their ideologies that the precious admin didn’t agree with.
Why not just handle rule breakers if and when they break rules? Why ban an entire instance because you disagree with some of their ideologies?

Are you talking about the DDoSers or the admins of lemmy.world? Because, yes, everyone who is trying to use lemmy.world that can’t should hold a grudge against the skids who bought a DDoS service subscription.
If you’re talking about the admins, you should be more specific. Are you saying that them defederating from another instance is a good reason for that other instance’s users to hold a grudge and DDoS? Because I would bed to differ if that’s the case.

The way you worded it make it sound like you mean lemmy.world users should hold a grudge against the attackers for preventing them from using lemmy.world, which is why people are confused. It might have been better to say like “The attackers are probably retaliating for being banned or something”
