I wanted to share this video because near the end they talked about younger union members taking leadership positions, changing the goals of the union. Reminded me of when I was a teamster years ago and when the membership grew to have a lot more young people, we voted out the old guard that was comfortable with only helping themselves and pulling the ladder up behind themselves. Our negotiations ended up with more changes that helped the younger people get better pay and better hours while still caring about retirement savings instead of just focusing on the retirement issues that only the older people cared about. They were grumpy about not getting their way but there was way more young people and they were outnumbered so we all got a better deal.
