predstrogen: yeah yeah online privacy is important but really i just hate those share tracking things at the end of links because they look ass ugly
predstrogen: [screenshot of tags] #finding disheveled feral links covered in tracking strings and gently cleaning them and picking off all the tracking strings
- Turns into https://www.ebay.com/itm/235128599845 - yeah generally everything after the “?” in a URL is safe to delete. - Not realy. Youtube for example uses stuff after the “?” to actualy specify the video you want. - Pretty sure that’s bad url use, at least in my nerdy opinion. From stackoverflow : “‘path params = resource identification’ and ‘query params = resource sorting’”
- That’s why they said “generally”

- Well played - hehe

- ClearURLs is an extention to automaticly remove tracking elements. - Oooh, thank you! I don’t know why it never crossed my mind to look for an extension like this. D’oh!

- ClearURLs is an extension that automatically removes trackers and is available for all browsers - if ur on android or don’t want to install too many extensions you can also use uBlock Origin with a custom filterlist such as the builtin “AdGuard URL Tracking Protection” or DandelionSprout’s Legitimate URL Shortener (which is included in my usable web guide wink wink nudge nudge) - you don’t need both lists enabled as the dandelionsprout one has all the rules from the adguard one inside it - Nice! Glad that there are options.
