In 2024, Russia’s total defense expenditures surged by 42% in real terms, reaching 13.1 trillion rubles. When adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP)—which accounts for differences in what money can buy in different countries—this amounts to $462 billion, according to the data by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Financial Times reported.

By comparison, total defense spending across Europe, including the U.K. and EU member states, increased by nearly 12% last year to $457 billion, slightly trailing Moscow’s budget.

This goes to show you why having quality of quantity is better. Not to also mention ukrainian soldiers having better training and equipment.

For example, the bradly when used properly by a well experienced crew can be a very dangerous opponent on the battlefield. In desert storm most bradly’s were lost to friendly fire, not enemy fire.

At this point we should just donate the a-10, their cheap, strong, simple, and carry a shit load of fire power. The brrt should be enough to make russians commanders issue brown pants.

Russia is stockpiling the new stuff deep inside russia. Theyre preparing for a bigger war.

I really don’t think they are.

The first problem they faced during this war was realizing their stockpiles were lies. if you recall people were sent to the Frontline with blocks of wood instead of ammo and such. On paper they had a ton of equipment, someone took that cash a bounced multiple times over

They also started this conflict using big guns, slowly they had to use less good equipment.

They are now being struck at home and calling for backup from Korea.

Now I’d believe he’s doing everything he can to save manpower, if he starts killing the children of people who matter he’s gonna have a bad time. But his country is getting hit and he’s taking political hits with it. He absolutely would love time to pause and rebuild his military. But that’s because he doesn’t actually have a lot of equipment at the moment

They can definitely make more but Putin doesn’t have a whole armada he’s refusing to use. His oil depots are being blasted, he’s lost warships and planes that will take a long time to replace and he’s fighting over the same territory he was 3 years ago.

        Dudes doing bad. Real bad.

That’s very interesting. Russia initially began this war with straight missile and drone attacks which have since reduced because Ukraine has developed, and continues to, increased protection from missiles which has forced Russia to change plans.

Now we’re seeing a stretched thin invasion coupled by less effective missiles and Russia is also being shot back in their own territory.

Stockpile all the missiles he wants, that’s desperate not confident

I wonder if the missiles are being constructed at all. Ukraine has been getting really good at shooting them down. So large waves of missiles are required to overwhelm their defenses.

Ukraine has also made the logistics of launching them more challenging. Planes and storage locations have to be stored much further away. The remaining ships in the black sea are hiding in port afraid to come out and play with Ukraine’s drones.

I wonder if the Russian did an analysis and decided that it was better to put money and energy into making more drones.

I believe they are somewhat stockpiling, but to a limited extent. With the Baltic states creating fortifications (dragons teeth and a few other things) does signal war time preparations.

Not to also mention putin is trying to arm belarus and get them involved, which may elevate some stress on russian forces enough for them re-organize.

As much as I hate to say it, there’s a chance of this war expanding to other countries before it ends.
