And he was rewarded with control of the entire party and eventually government. Is it going to take another populist to get these repugnant assholes to own their descent into fascism? Who will be the one to give the NAZI salute and proudly say Seig Heil? Who will be the one to say all other branches of government besides the executive have been dissolved and we will act as a vessel state of Russia? It took them 30+ years to own what they are now. Will it take another 30+ years before they openly argue in favor of dictatorship or oligarchy?
If history can predict future outcomes the person who steps up the rhetoric is the next GOP king. Will it be trump himself?

Wow. My brain hurts alone from the “melting pot is assimilation” analogy, and I don’t know if she should be that sure about Christian nationalism being the leading culture of America. The founding fathers might disagree slightly… And there is no European culture. Europe is the definition of a melting pot, and assimilation is definitely not part of it ^^
This is the reason I want to ask people, “why is authoritarianism bad?”
There must be millions of people all around me who couldn’t answer, don’t know the answer, and could care less about the answer. I met a lot of kids growing up, I never met one like her. Oof, then I’m reminded of “mother god.” A seemingly normal person who became so intoxicated with their own beliefs they became untethered from reality. All to end up too dead, too early, and too blue…
The fucked up forces we are up against have found cracks that I thought nothing could squeeze into. They found a way in and they are pulling strings I have no experience with.
It’s frightening. The longer we let them infest peoples minds… the scarier it gets.
