I’m not talking about fancy movies you mention to impress people with. I’m talking about movies you have seen many times and genuinely feel are really fun, even if their politics might be imperfect. The ones I have in mind are The Fifth Element, Robocop, Starship Troopers, and Independence Day.

    • Conan the Barbarian (2011), the Jason Momoa one. I dig movies where the baddies are legit crazy, powerful as hell, and unspeakably, existentially evil. and a good guy who is just like, “whatever, i’m gonna cut your head off because ur a dick.”

    • Payback (1999), with Mel Gibson. Similar deal, seemingly all powerful antagonists get completely wrecked from below, all the way to the top, because one guy got ripped off and is too cranky/stubborn to let it go. lots of funny lines and scenes. i couldn’t find my favorite, but this one’s good too.

    • Serenity (2005). fun lines, bad baddies. “If you can’t do something smart, do something right.”

    • Super 8 (2011).

    • The Adjustment Bureau (2011).

    • Timeline (2003). Gerard Butler before he became a huge deal.

    • The 13th Warrior (1999). lots of quotables. “They think they are bears.” “Is there a cave?!”
