As a statement from the congressman’s office details, Trump’s alleged constitutional violations are:

  • Obstruction of Justice and Abuse of Executive Power: Including denial of due process, unlawful deportations, defiance of court orders, and misuse of the Department of Justice.
  • Usurpation of Appropriations Power: For dismantling congressionally established agencies and impounding federal funds.
  • Abuse of Trade Powers and International Aggression: Including imposing economically damaging tariffs and threatening military invasion against sovereign nations.
  • Violation of First Amendment Rights: Through retaliatory actions against critics, media, and attorneys exercising constitutionally protected speech.
  • Creation of an Unlawful Office: By establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and unlawfully empowering Elon Musk to unilaterally violate the Constitution.
  • Bribery and Corruption: Involving dismissing criminal cases, soliciting foreign emoluments, and extortionate settlements for personal and political gain.
  • Tyrannical Overreach: Seeking to consolidate unchecked power, erode civil liberties, and defy constitutional limits on presidential authority.

For 100 days, I’ve been sitting here while people say, “Why don’t the Democrats do something?” and then one does something and people immediately proclaim that it isn’t enough. What exactly do you want done and how?

“Doing something” implies a perceivable desired outcome. “Do anything” is a bar so low I’m surprised it is being defended.

Hmm… why is he only filing them now? Could it possibly be because a candidate backed by David Hogg recently announced they were going to run against him in the primary, and so now he’s scrambling to do something to not look completely worthless? Sorry, you don’t get brownie points for putting on a performance to save your job.

I want him, and most of the DNC, to step down and be replaced by actual progressives instead of out of touch elites who have shown their incompetence far too many times

What do I want done… What a freaking question. It’s like if someone crashed into your car and sent you to the hospital and they ask “well what do you want me to do about it?”. We are way past the point of them being able to fix it.

When they had control they did nothing. Now that there is no chance the speaker of the house will even entertain a vote on an impeachment they introduce the letters of impeachment. They just voted, every last Democrat, 409 - 2 to let Trump censor anything he doesn’t like from the internet. The Take It Down Act claims to be about stopping revenge porn and deep fake porn but it also lets Trump and wealthy corporations erase whatever they don’t like. They all voted for it. What I want Dems to do is just be honest and openly join the Republican party. Stop pretending to be a separate party. Why would Trump support anything that prevents sexual exploitation of women and children, that’s his favorite hobby.

Yes because it’s easier to accept a weak and flawed bill and fight to have it struck down as overboard and unconstitutionally vague (which btw is already in progress) rather then fight and end up with a stronger more easily abused but harder to strike down bill.

That said why are you crying about this move in particular?

You know there are ways around the speaker of the house being inept a. Removal of the speaker quick is simple majority or b. Delivery in person and a motion to bring it under house rules.

Moreover there is only common practice involved in impeachment not bright line regulation or law and the section that allows impeachment allows the house to set it’s own rules as they relate to impeachment in which case the house rules are created by the house in total not just by the speaker.

TBH I don’t think this is getting struck down in this Senate with it’s current makeup of 2 Independents, 53 Republicans and 45 Democrats.

I don’t think it’s gonna get hot either way. They ignore it and they tell everyone they’ve done something wrong, why do that when you can do a sham investigation and declare dear leader has done nothing wrong.
