Le Scouarnec admitted in March to sexually abusing all 299 victims, many while they were under anaesthesia or waking up after operations between 1989 and 2014.
The former doctor is already in prison after being sentenced in December 2020 to 15 years for raping and sexually assaulting four children, including two of his nieces.
Another article quotes his son as saying, “I can’t hate him because I have nothing to criticise him about as a father. But I can’t forgive him for what he may have done.” Then it goes on to note that two of the children he sexually assaulted were his own nieces.
Why is there an example of cruelty beyond human comprehension unearthed every few months in France? Why always France?
Maybe it has the right balance of enough coverage to expose the horrors that always occur among people and enough of your attention to let you see it. The rest of the world is probably equally or more horrific, but not noted by the coverage you see.
