I just find this sort of performative corporate fanboy culture really cringy

If this were a convention, video game tournament or other community-driven event I wouldn’t bat an eye, but dressing up and camping out for the launch of a piece of consumer electonics is just so lame

I appreciate you explaining and I get where you’re coming from. I’m not super into Nintendo, but I’ve known people who really care about the games and characters. It very much is a corporation first that does shitty things, but if the games are meaningful to people then I get being excited for a release. I’d probably line up if one of my favourite consoles/games got a big release

I’m a gigachad-hd pc gamer though, so idk anything about lining up for a console

Getting excited for the release of a specific game would be less weird. This just comes off as fanboying for a company and it makes my skin crawl. “Woohoo, look at me, I can afford to buy the newest expensive gadget on launch day while decked in Official Nintendo® merch while playing the previous Nintendo® Switch™, aren’t I special and cool”

I’m a pc gamer though, so idk anything about lining up for a console

There was that time when a subset of PC gamers was making very cringy memes about “Lord Gaben” but I think that’s less of a thing now

Yeah, if there was a launch title worth getting excited about I’d understand but I didn’t even know the switch 2 was coming out this week until I started seeing youtube thumbnails about how it just came out

Maybe if I loved mario kart but racing games were never my favorite genre and I always preferred f zero so I just don’t get the hype
