For a while everything looked like Steven Universe/Adventure Time (CalArts). There was a couple of decades where Hanna Barbera single-handedly diminished the entire art form with the sheer volume of their minimally animated dogshit.
I actually kind of like the CalArts style, but I also understand how overused it was, which was unfortunate. I’m glad we’re turning a corner and folks like Joe Bennett are getting their time in the sun.
I love his big-headed almost hyperrealistic Chibi style in Common Side Effects.
