I know that “females” is seen as icky when describing women or girls, but since not all women were born female and not all born females are women, would that make addressing them as such transphobic?

In most situations, it would be rather strange to refer to a trans man as “female”. Might get away with it if it’s specifically about their chromosomes and you’re writing a scientific text about that, but that doesn’t really come up that often.

there’s times where the information is relevant to say “he’s a guy but he was born female” but being like “HE’S A FEMALE!!!” out of the blue is transphobic. i think the accurate term for WOMEN is women anyway, in my eyes.

If you’re talking in a scientific context about AFAB people, it’s probably fine. Though keep in mind that also includes trans men as well. If you’re just trying to refer specifically to cis women, say cis women.

The bigger concern is sounding like an incel for saying “females” in regular conversation.

Thanks, I meant more like how people say describing women as “females” is icky or those who are like “YOU DARN FEMALES!!”
