Yay? Now can we stop selling those pieces of shit weapons to commit war crimes with?
unlikely
I can’t decide if I admire, resent, or relate to your pessimism right now.
they might “recognize” Palestine, maybe, but the contracts will be filled
100% They’ll recognize the regional boundary of Palestine and do fuck all for the Palestinian people.
Yes
“Today Canada finally joins most of the world in recognising the state of Palestine, a country that no longer exists because our dear friends killed everyone who lived there with our help and our blessing.”
The Liberals are playing the same game as the US Democrats (and Republicans), UK’s Labour, etc.: say nothing as you quietly support the genocide for years, then suddenly say the right things when it’s too late for them to make any difference.
@danielquinn@lemmy.ca This is also damage control for the report that came out yesterday about the ongoing military shipments to Israel
It’s never really properly existed as a state, and it has no viable government to even engage with. One side are terrorists, and the other are puppets.
They’re essentially just going to be declaring it a human park.
Palestinian state must be demilitarized.
This will not happen before israel end occupation
standing with all people who choose peace over violence or terrorism
Canada is standing with the occupier israel doing violence and terrorism for 77 years
I had low expectations, yes, but somehow our PM managed to turn the recognition of Palestinian statehood into something that makes all sorts of demands on Palestinians while using the most passive of possible voices to describe Israel’s campaign of war crimes and genocide:
“The ongoing failure by the Israeli government to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza”
I just cannot fathom how morally bankrupt someone has to be to make a statement so backhanded and cruel in the midst of so much injustice against the Palestinian people.
This is good news and yet another reason I am happy with my voting decision this year.
Canada at a UN party …
Sees a Palestine from across the room.
“Hey don’t I know you?”
How about recognizing a Canadian state?
What do you mean by this? I think you are misunderstanding the definition of state in this context, but I could be wrong this is why I ask.
