One lost money, the other made money. CEOs are supposed to run companies so that they make money. If I was an Apple shareholder I’d advise Tim Cook to use his tongue when kissing Trump’s ass because that’s his job.

If you were an apple shareholder, I would hope to maximize your financial pain, by equivicating owning an iPhone with owning a Tesla.

American citizens are being kidnapped off the streets by the Trump regime, and Tim Fuckface gave Smaug a gold statue.

You’re confusing your personal opinions with opinions of majority, and it’s the majority that Apple is concerned about because they create mass market devices to sell them. Last I checked Trump won the popular vote which is a bit of an indicator where the majority in the US is. Rest of the world isn’t that into US domestic politics.

That explains the wall to wall happiness, and sky high presidential approval ratings.

I get why your mad but @misk@piefed.social makes a good point. Worst yall are getting emotional and talking past someone who is largely in agreement.

Really Apple is in the game of capitalism. Not sure why anyone is expecting otherwise

If you aren’t interested in hearing opinions different to your own you might opt to write a blog and store it on a piece of paper under a secret rock.

That explains the wall to wall happiness, and sky high presidential approval ratings.

Seems to be doing relatively fine for the amount of dumb stuff he does on daily basis. Elections are the only objective poll. Definitely not at the levels required to make people boycott companies based on gifts given by the CEO.

Americentrism at it’s best. Apple sells things outside of US, a shocker, I know. We also have other luxuries, like toilet paper and bicycles.

Maybe type a pithy response on your naziPhone about it.

I know it feels good, playing a tough guy on the internet, but this kind of attitude has a counterproductive effect on getting out of a crisis of democracy. You’re lost deep in magical thinking. I know this from experience of a US vassal that served as a laboratory for what conservatives are playing out in the rest of the world currently.

As long as it has 16 gigs of ram it would be perfect for most users. Unfortunately I feel like it’s going to be gimped to only 8, maybe 12 if we’re lucky.

One good thing to come out of AI bubble is that all iPhones have at least 8GB of RAM.

Cheapest iPhone is the same price as this laptop. I suspect they have to cut into their margins in order to make this laptop.

There are easier ways - getting rid of modem, replacing OLED in favour of LCD, maybe even non-metal shell. They won’t cut RAM because it’s required for „AI” and we’re still in that hype cycle.

Yeah, the Air starts at 8GB. I won’t be surprised if they stick 4GB into this one. That or they use the lower cost of the slower processor processor to put in 8GB of RAM.

Does it? I thought, with much excitement in the community, Apple upped everything to a base ammount of 16GB.

This was done to support their AI efforts.

Dream on - it’s taken until now for them to add proper windowed multitasking on iPad. It’ll be a cold day in hell when they put anything even approaching macOS on iPhone.

I think the differences are pretty visible. An iPad as your primary display coupled with a detachable keyboard makes sense for students. An iPhone screen is way too small for that purpose.

ETA: relying on a home and/or school monitor & keyboard means every classroom is equipped with multiple pieces of hardware that need to be supplied and stored. Or looking at it another way the student would need to spend time setting up/tearing down their set up whenever they need to move.

I don’t think you’re understanding. You would plug the iPhone in to an additional larger display that has a laptop form factor. This is actually supported by Purism and their phone the Librem. It’s basically a Linux phone that runs a phone and desktop version of Linux. There is no reason Apple couldn’t do the same.

I’ve seen these kinds of lapdock products and even dailied one for a while back in the day (see: Sentio SuperBook). I think you’ll find that price is typically the determining factor, and just by looking at the $549 Purism Lapdock Kit example you may as well shell out an extra $50 for a standalone device that you don’t need to keep tethered to use.

I’m not trying to defend Apple here in any way, I just don’t see tethering as a practical or durable alternative for students.
