Yep just more “othering” by the current admin of the Fascist States of America.
We need to institute a buyback program. Based on some quick reading, it’s not a permanent thing in other countries. But most countries don’t have the sheer number of guns per person that we do. Even if it was introduced irregularly, it could be a net positive.
Provide people with money for their weapons, institute the necessary logistics to keep such a program safe, and provide assurances that you aren’t going to jail for selling it back, we could start doing something about our gun problem.
Eddie: sorry not sorry gun nuts, the problem is the machine that is designed to kill as many targets as possible. If you cared about mental illness, then you’d be spending your money advocating for more mental illness care, not buying another gun. Downvote away.
Not rage bait. This is a genuine response. I honestly think we need a gun buyback program. Because we have a mass killing problem, and guns are the deadly machine that creates that problem.
Only the edit is the rage bait, and only after I was already heavily downvoted.
Start with 500 million to 1 billion. See how effective it is. Let that cash flow back into the system through taxes of various forms (fuel, sales, etc.), and keep going.
So far, we’ve done nothing to address it. Let’s start trying something.

You’re at the bottom of the Dunning-Krueger valley, and you can’t think of a better thing to do with your time than rage-bait?
Go crawl back into whatever hole you crawled from, troll

Out of curiosity, how much do you think a buyback would cost?

We also have a fascist takeover problem. That’s a bigger problem, and it’s the one the second amendment was written to address.
Which no one is currently using their second amendment to quell.

At least we have some patriots here on US soil.
