"Taxpayers’ Union chief executive Jordan Williams said the results were “alarming”.

Taxpayers Union alarmed that their relentless spewing of hateful rhetoric and incitement is working!

So they did a “survey” of 0.018% of the New Zealand population (1000 people) and start squawking about their “findings” from that survey.

A real and proper survey would include at least 35% of the population in at least every major city.

Basically a bull shit survey by the Taxpayer Union (a political group) and bull shit journalism by Stuff.

    They both should be ashamed.

1000 people is enough to be statistically significant. You don’t need 35% of the population or anything close to it. This has been proving mathematically and also in practice.

Most likely the survey was worded to elicit the response they were looking for.

Make no mistake though the Tax Payers union wants a violent civil war to “get the country back on track”. It’s a goal they have been pursuing for years.

        The question was:

Do you strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree with the following statements

        The statements:

        1. “You have friends with political views different from your own.”
        2. “All immigrants who came to New Zealand illegally should be deported.”
        3. “New Zealanders may have to resort to violence in order to get the country back on track.”

        Based on 1,000 responses, we’re 14% vs America’s 30%.

Illegal immigration? How are immigrants coming to NZ illegally? What a weird thing to ask.

That’s an example of a priming question. Like asking “do you think criminals should be prosecuted”. It primes your response for the next question. It persuades the person to think there is a rampant and problematic flood of illegal immigration into the country.
