What does it has to do to be at least a good game for you?

For me it doesn’t need to have so much mini games and open fields, because that’s just stetching game time, not make it a lot better. I like remake a lot more than Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 was chock full of mini games and I found their continued use of them a true love letter to the original.

I think even a few of them were fun and it’s fine to have some of them in them. I was more annoyed by the stretch of all the task in the open fields. Having main quest, some minigame sides stuff and the side quests, without all the monster kill, reaching places stuff would be fine for my taste.

I loved it all, ate it all up. If you don’t like the optional stuff in the pseudo open world, you could just not do them. But for those enjoying the gameplay, it’s more content.

But i don’t like not able to get some items that i want, so i critizise it. Rebirth was a good game for me, don’t get me wrong, but i will not things i didn’t like about it.

When i play a game i always try to over optimise my party, so sometimes i do to much stuff, if i don’t want to miss stuff. It’s my problem, sure but depending on the game is see it as better or worse according to the nessesarity of side content for making the party better. And for Rebirth i felt like missing something if i skip that.

Not even just party upgrades, but fun stuff from the original that gets gated by side content, too. I’m a huge fan of blue magic in general, which meant I had to do a lot of the maps to get my Enemy Skills. Even someone like me that enjoyed the open world and the side content was very, very done with it by the last two regions.

FF7 has a great pacing. The mini games break up the turn based routine and do not overstay their welcome.

The FF7R games do not have good pacing at all.
