An awesome app I just discovered for browsing reddit links. Like the rest of you I’ve abandoned reddit but a lot of research on the web takes you to reddit. It’s unsafe to browse the main site. This app is fully incognito and doesn’t require an account. It’s also gorgeous. It could potentially go inactive soon due to an API change. Last update was also in June but they fixed a crash this morning so someone’s still working on it.

Download this and set it to handle reddit links by default. Stay safe, stay ready Comrades!

Firefox is fine in private mode. The other apps are just made for that single purpose. I don’t use reddit that much. Firefox is fine for me.

What would be the benefits of this over RedReader? I currently use that app without logging in just to keep up with news and it provides an old Reddit layout experience. Because I refuse to use anything with an even remotely new Reddit layout.

If Red Reader is working stable for you and you don’t like the newer interface then you’re already using the right one! This one is also still unstable. I went back to Continuum until there’s more updates.

Add the de-centralites and EFF plugins to firefox and you’ll be a lot better off. Can’t say perfect. But it’ll help repel more trackers on the site.

Any recommendations for iOS? I’ve been just using Safari if I need/want to go back to look something up. Although I’m finding a lot of old subs I used to haunt have gone NSFW, and I don’t mean stuff with boobs.

It seems a lot of folks don’t want you to access stuff anymore or at least not easily and I am not setting up anaccount again to do it.

I’m not entirely sure why anyone would willingly stay on iOS in search of further privacy? Like Apple is not as focused on being an advertiser company, but you literally have no control or sight on the code on your iPhone, just as much as a Samsung or something.

My only recommendation is get off of iOS. If that’s an option research Hermit browser and see if anything is similar or of Mullvad browser has anything similar to it on iOS. With iOS you’re going to be relying on browsers and plugins for security and privacy like unlock origin and DNS filters to achieve privacy.

I use RedReader without an account for years and never had any issues with it. It’s one of the very few third-party apps that gotten a pass during the apiocalypse.

The functionality is a bit iffy and has been since they killed the API but it’s better than nothing!

It worked solid for two days and went out this morning. I have continuum setup as a backup. But that requires an API key and user account. It also required me to turn off my VPN for the account setup. So huge knock on continuum. I’m confident they’ll fix the issues with stealth.

I used to use this app a lot but I found it started to work less and less. If you follow the right links, there is talk of a new version 3 of the app but I don’t know if that’s still being worked on.

I find that redlib is more reliable for Reddit browsing. It does stop working occasionally but only for a few hours usually.

I’ve been using it for years and yes sometimes VPN causes issue but it is mostly working for me. Can you tell me what exactly is broken? Maybe I can take a look.

I’m going to keep observing stealth. But it started acting up again so I went back to continuum.

Haven’t used it much but as another option, you could try some firefox addon like libredirect so it will open some redlib instance.
