Can you still install an OSS alternative instead of their locked OS? I am using a F4-420 with TrueNAS for more then 6 years now, as I remember they changed something in their firmware so you are not able to install another OS anymore. But I can be wrong, my Terramaster runs just fine on TrueNAS (community edition). It’s an awesome and trouble free NAS.

Going by this article about the lower end F2-425 with the Intel N95, they were able to install TrueNAS on that and that came out this year as well
