Doesn’t even need to be rotating shifts. I kind of work in construction (county archaeology) and if I am not there on time my boss has to wait for me to drive us to the site which in turn costs the construction company because they can only start working when we are finished
And generally the exceptions boil down to “you being late is affecting a fellow worker”.
