LEBANON, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana homeowner accused of killing a house cleaner who mistakenly arrived at his front door was charged with voluntary manslaughter on Monday in a case that could test the limits of stand-your-ground laws.
Curt Anderson, 62, could face anywhere from 10 to 30 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if he’s convicted. He was being held in the Boone County Jail pending an initial court hearing.
Does anyone really get away with it like that? Are there examples?

The shooters of Ahmaud Arbery almost got away with it. It was only because of great outcry and online campaigning that they got indicted and eventually convicted in the first place.
Same with Ralph Yarl. It was a national outcry that got his attempted murderer arrested.

I remember this one. I lived in Texas at the time and it was a big deal. I heard the 911 call. I do remember he got away with it. But it was different because they were on his neighbor’s property not his own.
An actual thief (2) is not the same as those examples.
Is it even relevant that they were thieves? Considering there was no danger to himself or others until he chased them with a shotgun?

Is this the case of the old man who shot the woman claiming to be pregnant?
No, it’s the one where a nasty racist old lady hated her Mexican-American neighbors, so she researched stand-your-ground laws, then went over and snatched one of the kids’ toys while they were playing in the front yard.
Then, when the mom went over to talk to her about getting the toy back, the nasty old lady shot her dead, claiming she ‘feared for her life’ and ‘thought it was a burglar’.
Fortunately she didn’t get away with it.
