Note: The word “slop”, while often used to refer to AI slop, got to be used to mean “quantitive media product”, then “thing I don’t like”, hence “friendslop” and the likes started to appear. I wonder if nu metal would be called “slop metal” if it came out today.

I will agree that the term “AI slop” is what massively popularized adding slop to things, but calling media slop to mean its just fast produced garbage to get stuff out the door with no talent/care/etc poured into it is why it was called AI slop. The term already existed. Wo things like friendslop make sense.
