Just like how I didn’t want onedrive and they started making it the default for my documents when they would update. Drove me nuts. Their desire to take the personal out of personal computer has made me quit their ecosystem entirely.
Their OneDrive fuckery was the final straw for me to seriously consider switching to Linux.
They installed that shit without my consent, moved all my data onto it without my consent, despite me making a serious effort to undo all of that and keep my files local. THEN they had the gall to start warning me that I was running out of cloud storage and wouldn’t be able to access my files if I didn’t cough up the money for a subscription.
I finally managed to uninstall OneDrive and move my data to my local drive on my computer. The next update they reinstalled OneDrive and started spamming me with warnings again!
That’s not a feature, that’s not even a bug. That’s a goddamn racket.
I’m now finally using Linux, for the first time in my not-so-short life.
They all want that. Sam Altman doesn’t want anyone to be able to buy a computer at all.
Microsoft wants their cloud to know everything and do everything for everyone.
They want a subscription for it all. They want to takwnyoyr money month after month; for the “privilege” of having access to the things you need to actually manage life in our modern society.
They want to gatekeep survival, pick and choose the winners and take all the spoils.
