Pretty embarrassing to install an extension called “lib redirect” but I guess that’s what it does, redirect my liberal http requests to more privacy respecting alternatives.

These proxy frontends are super useful for VPN users encountering “suspicious traffic” blocks and for browsing corpo social media sites without logging in.

Full list of sites it can redirect and frontends / proxies / free alts that it knows about:

ETA: you don’t have to enable it for all supported sites, just whatever’s useful for you.

There are other redirect extensions but this one’s been more convenient than others I’ve tried and should be easier to convince other people on my LAN to try out before I’m forced to create fancy routing rules so someone can keep watching youtube or w/e.

I use this for Reddit to RedLib because I have to search up certain games’ communities as well as certain tech questions, though, I often had to switch instances a lot because of the dreaded rate limits. The ongoing battle between reddit and reddit frontends is real and I wish I didn’t even have to go there but lemmy still doesn’t show up at search results sometimes and the congregation of communities IS STILL at reddit and Twitter/X (I use xcancel and other nitter instances sometimes as well, but only when looking at non-art related stuff, I have a whole twitter feed of yuri art I’m not willing to ruin lol)

Yeah xcancel is really good. I don’t mind using Invidious for Youtube, it’s a bit janky but it works well enough for me.

Haven’t tried any of the other yet. I didn’t even know most of these existed. Reuters -> Neuters made me smirk.
