Alberta premier Danielle Smith said just because a report on Alberta Next was released late on a Friday afternoon on the cusp of Christmas holidays means her government would rather not talk about it.
The purpose of the NEXT panels, and every committee put together by the UCP, is make work projects for party cronies that need a paycheque. One committee after another where they just ignore the results and pay people connected to the party to travel around the province… Just compare how much this committee costs compared to committees put together before Smith’s tenure.
When it comes to the costs of running the government the UCP has managed to take this idea of doing less while getting paid more and ran with it all the way to the bank. We’re paying this huge premium for government officials and offices while the services they provide are being starved for funds to justify privatization.
It’s so frustrating to see the UCP spend 10-50x the money amount on things Postmedia would relentlessly attack the ANDP for doing while in power. The media landscape in Alberta is more propaganda than actual informative news, which helped paint Smith as a moderate during the last election.
