just for folks that don’t watch its basically a count of per capita metro use not necessarily overal quality. He does mention some limitations to like with chicago he mentions if it was just the city it would be likely higher. I wonder about that because the el system only goes to the collar suburbs and the chicago metro area is often listed as quite expansive. It should really just be based on cook county. I can say washington dc is just pants next to chicago. Chicago is not just cheaper but transfering between bus and train is free and in dc you get like a 25 cent discount last I know when you changed transit. so like taking a bust to a metro station and then taking another bus at the destination is like crazy expensive in dc compared to chicago. Like 3 or 4 times the cost. Its nuts. And then like if your taking the train at like 2pm you are waiting like 15mins or more at metro stations to change trains. In chicago you would not see such bad times unless it was like 2am and middle of the day it should be under 5. Then like it feels to me going sorta the farthest you could in dc. like reagan airport to university of maryland is something like 15 miles which is about the distance from like ohare to downtown in chicago or really any ends of the spoke to downtown. Anyway that means going end to end is about twice as far and given both are basically circles its a massively larger area. Then you get into the biking and such and well. anyway as I said the list is just a per capita ridership but what population used is kinda suspect to me.
