But the market didn’t get to decide whether the cessation of the horror of war crines is valuable or not

all without a single accident or casualty
Top tier workplace safety in a minefield lol
But at what cost?
:picard-neutral:
Captain’s Log, stardate 79519.8.
The Enterprise has arrived in the Maroun al-Ras system to host a commemorative ceremony celebrating the handover of the area to the local culture. The federation has been conducting a minesweeping operation in the area for several months as a peacekeeping operation. While hostilities with the nieghboring culture which layed those mines are ongoing, we are hopeful our presence will allow this handover to occur without incident.

Meanwhile:
- Is trying to flirt with one of the peace keepers by bragging about how many mines he’s disarmed. She isn’t impressed. He begins a B plot with Data to try and help them speed along a mapping project to confirm they got all the mines, which gives Geordi and excuse to spend time with his crush.
and
Are the A plot. Warf starts the episode reminiscing about battle while assisting Miles unloading machinery. Miles is taken aback by Warf’s warrior code of ethics (where he brushes off the senselessness of the war by saying honorable warriors died here and we should all be so lucky). Suddenly, they’re both ambushed and take prisoner by the IDF (it’s a Miles plot, he’s gotta be a prisoner sorry).Act 2: Geordi Data and Crush situation deteriorates. Geordi over handles it and messes something up. There’s a 5 minute aside he has alone with Picard where he gives some folksy but off-note akward advise to Geordi that makes it into a clip RLM uses on rotation.
Miles and Warf have a bad time. Warf learns about the human cost of conflict but will still get up to the same shit next episode.
Idk ends because geordi’s map finds where they are. His crush is impressed… with Data. Womp womp.

Incredibly cool.
But at what cost?

IDF soldiers watching in pain as China immediately shows up and undoes all their work right after they finish
Lockheed Martin and Boeing and Raytheon licking their lips cause they get to sell more mines now
Death Death to the IOF
Yeah I support the troops
what real fucking heros look like
But china does nothing for the world!!!/s

Is the UN website trying to be clever by saying “more than 4,850 square metres” and “Over 800 landmines were safely destroyed”? Yes, 18,000 is indeed more than 800, but that phrasing seems oddly misleading.
Perhaps the 18,000 mines and 2 million square meters were from many mine clearing missions there, of which these two fields are just a small part
I guess, I just feel the site should mention the full extent, not mention just a fraction of it
