forcing everyone to dox themselves won’t make anything safer. All that data in hackable databases would be ripe for the picking by any hacker or groups of hackers to sell to databrokers, who then sell it to scammers

Parental controls are very easy to set up in the modern day every commonly used OS has them built in. If you’re a parent, it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure your kids don’t see things they’re not supposed to see…don’t let the government control that shit

    This is weak. Here’s the text of their email template:

    Passing bills that weaken end-to-end encryption, require online ID checks, or repeal Section 230—which protects free speech online—will give Trump the power to crush public and private dissenters. Lives will be irreparably harmed if you enable Trump’s government to pressure abortion funds off the internet, surveil our messages, or age gate and censor online resources for vulnerable communities. If you care about your constituents, you should oppose EARN IT, KOSA, the Cooper Davis Act, the SCREEN Act, and any bill to impose age verification requirements or to end Section 230 speech protections.

    This is way too focused on partisan issues, and pretty much guaranteed to be ignored by any republican congressperson who receives this since they don’t expect to win your vote regardless… and since they currently hold the majority, that’s exactly what you don’t want.

    The underlying issues are bipartisan, so why isn’t the petition?

    Lets ask protonmail. Signup requires an existing email account. We handed customer kyc info over to Swiss authorities we didn’t send to FBI (but the Swiss did).

      They require another email now? Back in my day you could choose not to but you would be unable to use acct recovery without it (but I have a password manager so I opted out.) I also got in early enough it’s a .ch though so idk if that changed.
