Today I posted a picture of a stamp with an animal in it and they said the picture contained nudity and made me take it down, but I reported a photo of a guy with a fully visible swastika tattoo and they said that’s fine.
I’d like to start a Lemmy community with photos of stuff that they refuse to remove called FacebookSaysItsFine.
I find it hard because it’s where I’m in contact with all of my old Livejournal friends from across the world, and it’s the platform where we can talk to each other still. That’s why.

I’d rather use my Facebook groups than Kik to plan swinger events, 100 times out of 100. Kik is so shitty it’s unreal.
There’s really no alternative to FB for what I use it for, since swinger sites are hot garbage and a lot of swingers are all over the map in terms of age. And again, Kik is terrible.

It i literally the reason I’m on Facebook, so I commented.
I don’t care what you think is cringe and I am quite happy with my life, thanks.
I’m not out here proselytizing non-monogamy man. Not sure why you’re being shitty, unless this is some kind of bit you’re doing? Matches your username.
They probably value their friendship over the ideological stance of “Facebook bad”.
That is quite the pickle… they want the downfall of the platform they share with their friends, but don’t want to leave that platform.
Too bad there is absolutely no other way that OP can stay in contact with those people. There’s nothing that can be done. /s
I hate listening to voicemails but I also love my grandparents, you know?
Yeah you don’t even need whatsapp(which is also Facebook). I wish more and more people knew about phone link which is installed on every pc. You can just use it like messenger. There’s also Skype. Then You can have a temp phone number in which you don’t have to worry about giving out and someone stealing your passwords to things.
It’s not the same and you know it. I have the same issue with Instagram. Many of our interactions through the platform come from us reacting to each other’s content (posts, stories, comments). Without that you lose a lot of “spontaneous” interaction.
Question is: How much does spontaneous interaction contribute to your life.
For me I found, it’s not much more than a regular, short dopamine rush and lock-in in a certain bubble. Do I know a lot less about people? Sure. Do I miss something in my life? Hell no. That added peace is invaluable and a telephone call from time to time is much better.
That’s a fair question.
Usually not much, so I have too started to log in far less frequently. However, as an example, I did get in touch once again with an old friend thanks to it (and we are still in touch), so it did help quite a bit in that regard. But I understand your point and I have been thinking about leaving the platform anyway due to all the privacy shitshow.
we all had this moment but at this time, it’s unlikely any old friends will join FB/Instagram that haven’t already.
