Kim Jung Gi was one of the most highly acclaimed artists of the 21st century. A heart attack lead to his untimely death in October 2022, being only 47 years old.

He became famous for his inking skills, being capable of drawing highly detailed murals without any reference. His calling card became his use of 5 point perspective with multiple vanishing points. Notably, his perspective skills were the product of practiced intuition, as he only learned the mathematical principles behind it after enrolling in an art school.

He spent most of his time drawing and was invited around the world to paint murals for different occasions. He left behind more than 6000 identifiable works and South Korea opened a museum dedicated to him postmortem.

A collection of his works can be found here: https://archive.org/details/982_20221008/kim-jung-gi-2018-sketch-collection/

He truly was someone an artist can aspire to.

◇ ◇ If you drew something that is still a Work In Progress (WIP), this is the place to share it. ◇ ◇

◇ ◇ If you have any art related thoughts or questions, this is the place for that discussion. ◇ ◇

This mega’s purpose is to create a casual, low-pressure environment for artists and non-artists alike to engage in sharing their incomplete art, giving feedback to others and holding general art discussion. If you are an artist with original works that are complete, you are highly encouraged to make a standalone post for it.

And when I say incomplete, I do mean literally anything that you wouldn’t consider a complete illustration or artwork, from basic anatomical sketches and messy perspective exercises to half-rendered paintings. All skill levels are welcome.

i’ve been really struggling with moh’s color palette but i think i’m really happy with the new revisions i made. it just feels so much more readable now! new anthropomorphic cat character headshot. the notable changes include the main fur color is now a yellowish orange, the secondary fur color is a contrasting off white, the inside of the ears are yellow, and the mouth and secondary eye color is a desaturated gold/green. changes have also been made to the shape of the secondary fur markings to better frame the face of the character

old anthropomorphic cat character headshot. this iteration had too much going on with a third fur color that didn't provide enough contrast and it's use in the face framing made details unclear at a distance. the mouth and inside ears are a bluey grey and the eyes were overcomplicated as well.
