Ackshyully, Wario and Waluigi both follow the same naming scheme: portmanteaus of 悪い warui ‘bad’ + Mario/Luigi. The upside-down M is just a happy coincidence. The problem is that these are just about the only names in the universe you can make good warui-portmanteaus out of.
