I dunno if I’m ready to watch Excalibur again, I’ve left it in the fantasy memory box with Beastmaster and Jason and the Argonauts, Krull was a rough revisit

It’s actually good though. Adapting le Mort de Arthur is impossible, obviously you’re going to careen from scene to scene just to fit the key points.

It’s got good acting, respect to the doomed heroism of the mythology, high effort costuming, decent respect to the chivalric mythos stuff.

It’s a bit nonsense at times but idk if you’ve read the vulgate cycle but there is a lot of nonsense.

I mean lancelot is just a french self insert to own the oafish brits and cuck arthur. It’s like wojack level silly.

Behold! The Film of Power! Excalibur! Filmed when the world was young, and bird and beast and flower were one with man, and death was but a dream!

I tried to watch Excalibur a few days ago. I only managed to watch 30 minutes. I hated it. I thought it was cheesy and silly. The worst thing was the performance of the actor who played Merlin as if it was a Monty Python movie.
