I heard that baby squirrels being trusting towards humans or actively seeking out humans can be a sign of them needing help, due to being seperated from their parent. Did that happen?
Edit: I did some research, baby squirels sitting on the ground is unusual, but can be part of the mother relocating nests. If you can and this is a wild squirel, it’s best to observe for a couple of minutes, and check if mom comes to pick the baby up. If you’d like to read more, I found this informative: https://squirrelforum.com/care-resources/
Or maybe you know more than me, in this case: Good job, and feel free to disregard :)
Yes, my neighbours had a nest in their chimney, which was removed. The babies and parents have taken up residence in a nearby tree. The adults let us get close too, but not this close!
We’ve been feeding them for years so we’re not totally unfamiliar to them.
Guess I misinterpreted the situation, sorry if I was pushy. Happy to hear the squirrels are okay :)
You were not pushy and you provided valuable information! I wasn’t clear in the post that everything with the squirrel itself was ok.
No apology needed! Thanks for looking out for the tan eggs.
Or so they would have you believe…
The fools!! Muhahahaha!
Goals.
