From the FAQ:
- The current price is €5 / month.
- There are no plans to implement any AI features, for now.
- For web search, Uruky currently integrates Mojeek, Marginalia, EUSP (Ecosia/Qwant) (only works with French, German, or English), Linkup, Serper, and Uruky Site Search. For image search, Uruky currently integrates Pixabay and Serper (image results).

You can’t even do a single search without paying a subscription upfront.
How do you expect me to pay for something of which I have no clue of it’s worth the price?
At least allow a free tier of 10 searches or something…
You can actually, just click on register and solve the captcha, that gives you an account for a couple of hours. No personal info required.
Are you one of the devs? If so, you should
- Make it more obvious there is a free trial.
- Reconsider the free trial plan, imho. Personally, I will never decide in a couple hour if I might want to use any new tool. This takes time even more so changing something as intimate as a search engine. Heck, it took me quite a few months of intensive testing and consideration before I decided to move away from MS Word to LibreOffice Writer, after 25 years using it ;)
Just so you know: I was a very satisfied paid user of Kagi… but that happened only after I was able to try them for more than a few days and to take my time to actually explore those many features I was thrilled about. Something I can’t and refuse to rush in a few hours. I think Kagi was offering 100 or maybe 300 searches for free, I can’t recall the number, but even that was not enough and I had to contact them.
I really enjoyed using their engine and, as a EU-citizen, I would more than wish to give yours a chance too.
I’m not unfortunately, but I know the trial is something they added only very recently so that’s why the FAQ says there are no free trials. If you’re inclined to contact the founder here’s his website: https://brunobernardino.com/.
Thx a lot, I 'll reach to them.
But it’s five euros (!!) to test it for a month?! Do you know how much it costs to run a project like this? As far as I know, there’s no massive funding behind this one and it’s an extremely small team (compared to Kagi/DDG…), so offering a free trial might just not be feasible for them.
I’m not affiliated with the project / the Devs at all, but I really think 5€/month is close enough to a free trial…

You’re more than welcome to think whatever you want and throw away money however you fancy. As long as I’ll have to put in any kind of effort to earn said 5 euros I will consider them not free.
And, no, that doesn’t mean I won’t be spending money with them (you should read my whole comment before jumping to any conclusion, or feeling entitled to tell me how I must spend my money), just that I don’t think this is the best effing trial there could be to invite people to test a products that is free everywhere else. And that I more unlikely to test it in those conditions. I had a similar discussion with Kagi a few years ago… Kagi, once again please read my entire comment, I was effing happily paying for as a user.
Yeah the team is one developer and his wife. I’m fine with sliding them a few euros
from the FAQ:
you can get a refund in the first 14 days
They legally have to give you that refund since its bought online, but that doesn’t mean that getting said refund is easy. It could be, but finding that out requires you to buy it first.
This isn’t meant as an attack against this software specifically, but more as a broad statement.
Fyi I discovered the website thanks to this post. I exchanged emails quickly with Bruno who was very helpful. I haven’t created an account yet but will probably do so.
This is also „only“ a meta search engine, meaning it will use the search index of others and will proxy your search to them.
I say only, because alternatives do exist. mojeek is UK based and has its own search index (although not the best imho), then there is other search engines that proxy requests like qwant (French), ecosia (German), searxng (OSS; selfhosted and public instances available).
I don’t know what the mission with this new search engine here is and what it offers that others don’t. You lose 5€ and tether yourself to an account that definitely makes you identifiable.
Metager is another search engine that sort of wants you to have an account but rather go for an access token. They are operating as a German non profit and have been operating since 1996!
