I admit that modern agriculture can and should be improved to be less cruel. I would still be uncomfortable with the act of killing and eating the flesh of a sentient being like me.

    They die when the crops are harvested to feed cattle too. And hunters do not exclusively eat meat outside of small fringe weirdos, so they’re participating in double the killing every time they have broccoli with their steak or whatever.

    The obvious answer is that it’s a tragedy that we should find ways to minimize, and probably can do so already if not motivated purely by profit, but that veganism isn’t a death cult and people need to eat.
