Police in some of Quebec’s largest metropolitan regions have handed out thousands of fines over the past six years to citizens for allegedly hurling insults at officers or other municipal officials, according to internal data obtained by The Canadian Press.
Except cops are what save you from harassment by people like me for calling them dumb. Cops protect you from psychopaths with poor impulse control, just the existence of them is a deterrent.
If you have a bowl of honey and a bowl of shit, and you take some of that shit and stir it into the bowl of honey, you end up with two bowls of shit.
If they would only police their own members, it wouldn’t be a problem. But the entire structure and culture of police forces centres around them protecting their own and placing themselves above the population with a toxically adversarial us-vs-them attitude that encourages abuse and corruption.
