They are rent seeking corrupters of a very popular piece of software. They are piggy backing off of many contributors’ efforts and volunteered time, and the good name that was Audacity. They should be shown the door, and hard, for what they did to Audacity.
There is a lesson here too, the branding shouldn’t live with a company or person. Mastodon got a lot of heat and eventually saw sense - and this is just one example of why
